The Vatican has instituted new guidelines for Extraordinary Ministers in regards to the purification of the Vessels after Communion. Beginning with the January 6/7 2007 schedule (not before), please follow these new guidelines.

Please read the following:

Cup Ministers: When Communion is complete, return the cups to the credence table (small wood table to the left of the Altar). Do not consume any Precious Blood left in the cup. Place the purificator over the top of the cup.

Bread Ministers: When Communion is complete, return to the Tabernacle and combine the hosts into two Ciboria (as usual). Two ministers should each take one covered Ciborium to the vesting table in the Sacristy. The cover must remain on the Ciborium.

Beginning with the January 6/7, 2007 schedule, only the priest, deacon, or acolyte appointed by the pastor may purify the Vessels after Mass.
